I don't have an 8 yet, but am interested in obtaining one.
I'm willing to trade my extremely rare PDP-11/R20 and cash for one, or for a PDP-8/S.
A local institution has one that's being restored, and I've taken a few pictures on a recent trip there.

There are obviously some cards missing here.
The story is that this 8 was abandoned, and some of the cards were sold off as trophies! :-(
The metal box at rows A and B contains the core memory.

This is the right hand side panel.
Slightly more cards are present here.

This is one of the interesting design features of the PDP-8 -- there are two backplanes (the left and right
panels shown above) and they are oriented back-to-back, and swing apart.

There are two DF-32s with this particular PDP-8, but alas one of them has been diagnosed as unfixable.
I don't yet know the details of that particular analysis...
This picture is of the "serviceable" unit.

A nice, simple, typical DEC power supply for the era.
With authentic vintage dust too :-)

Finally, this is a picture of the second cabinet; it's full of uninventoried options.
